Happy Greetings.
Happy Greetings are designed to bring a little more light and laughter into the life of someone you love. Send a friend a card or give them a sticker—for no other reason than to make them smile. I have always had a love for puns, so combining them with illustrations seemed like a natural progression.
I wanted to keep the design for this project energetic, bright and happy. Bold colours and solid shapes were used to construct the illustrations. The sketchy looking font (Amatic Std) adds a fun and playful tone to the artwork. To make the printing as sustainable as possible, these designs were printed by a company called 'Print Together' (printtogether.com.au), who use vegetable inks in their printing process.
This project was completed as part of a challenge that required me to draw one illustration a day for a month. While I did not have a lot of time to create each one, it improved my skills enormously. The process involved brainstorming fun and positive puns, sketching an illustration to visually represent the pun, and then recreating it in Adobe Illustrator using my Wacom tablet. To further refine the curves the pen tool was used to tidy up the paths.
